Brooklyn

Saturday was Free Day at the Brooklyn Museum in Park Slope.

Park Slope is nice. They have trees!

And the museum has their own mini Lady Liberty in the parking lot. Oh Brooklyn!

Thursday, I think, I wandered around the West Village and over to the piers. I've never felt so out of place in my life. I kept looking for a sign that said "No Women". This area is filled predominately with fit, young, scantily clad, ethnic gay males.

Sunday ate at the Shake Shack in Madsion Square Park. It's supposed to be NY's version of In-N-Out. They wish it was as good as In-N-Out.

Where do I start? The bun was sweet and soft like a King's Hawaiian dinner roll. I found the taste overwhelming. The meat didn't taste like anything and their secret sauce was plain gross. Don't get me wrong, I'll still eat it but I won't wait 30 minutes in line again for it. Also, they are known for their custard ice cream cones. I didn't take a picture but that too was super sweet. I'll take a McDonald's soft serve over that any day.

Nina the Dog Molestor

I was sitting in Washington Square Park today eating my gyro (not just any gyro but from the W.4th and Broadway cart guy who won the 2006 Vendy award) and I noticed I was right next to the doggie run. I sat and stared at the happy dogs and their owners and I wondered if it would be weird if I went in and sat inside the doggie run without being a dog owner myself. Then I realized I sounded just like a child molestor that goes to parks to spy on little children.
What made me even more mad is the fact that someone stole my idea for a rent-a-doggie business. I had this great idea where people could rent dogs for short periods of time because sometimes I find myself out for a walk thinking, "Gee, this walk would be a lot more fun if I had a dog (or boyfriend) with me." Anyway, it's called Flexpetz and a New York City branch is opening soon. Maybe I'll start the rent-a-boyfriend business. Oh wait, they're called man bimbos, a mimbo....

Wings and Things

If New York City is the culinary epicenter of the world, why is it that I find myself only eating buffalo wings? Cuz they're hella good and hella cheap!!! Case in point:

Last Wednesday: Phoebe's 10 cent wing night (with a purchase of a pitcher)
This Monday: Epstein's 25 cent wing night (no alcohol purchase needed)
Just Now: Anne swore that The Town Tavern has 25 cent wings when there's a Yankee game on so we went but she was wrong. Luckily, their wings are only $6 a dozen.

I think I'm going to take a break from the wings.

In other news, I found out I got the temporary job. So I'll be in New York (at least) until the end of 2007. Whoo-hoo!!!!

Next up: find a place to live.....
